Your hair is a big part of who you are and how you express yourself every day. Here are 10 tips and tricks that'll help keep your hair healthy, fresh and looking amazing!
Wash With Lukewarm Water:
~Although taking a nice hot may feel relaxing, the scalding water can actually strip your hair of essential oils which makes it look much drier and duller. Washing with lukewarm water is better for your scalp and not as harsh as well as just as effective at getting you clean. Wash twice focusing on massaging the scalp.
Condition Correctly:
~Think about where your hair tends to get greasy first. Your scalp right? Use it as a reminder that conditioner needs to be applied from mid-lengths to ends, skipping the roots entirely. Another good tip, when you do rinse your conditioner out make sure to use cool water because it will help prevent frizzy hair.
Don't Dry Off Using A Towel:
~Although a towel is normally the obvious way to dry your hair but it isn't the best option. Squeeze out some of the water with the towel, no rubbing or anything like that, then use an old cotton t-shirt and blot your hair. This is much gentler than a towel and will keep your hair intact. Another tip, air dry your hair as often as you can to keep it natural.
Trim Your Split Ends:
~To keep your hair looking fresh make sure you are getting your split ends cut as regularly as you can. For women the recommended amount of weeks is eight to twelve, and for men and children the recommended amount of weeks is six to ten.
Sleep On A Silk Pillowcase:
~Cotton pillowcases can be harsh on your hair and even absorb your haircare products. Switching to a silk or satin pillowcase will keep your hair smooth and less tangled.
Don't Wash Your Hair As Often:
~That might not sound very fresh or clean, but waiting a day or longer to wash your hair will actually help it to keep its natural oils. Washing your hair everyday strips it, so to prevent that wash your hair every other day or 2 days if you can.
Let Your Hair Down:
~Wearing your hair in tight hairstyles causes it to stretch and snap and puts too much strain on it. Try wearing your hair down more often, wearing lower and looser hairstyles, and using hair ties that won't pinch.
Use A Wide-Tooth Comb On Wet Hair:
~Wet hair breaks more easily when it is brushed. So instead use a wide-tooth comb when detangling damp or wet hair and make sure to be as gentle as possible.
Go Easy On The Heat:
~Make sure all of your hair styling products, like a blow dryer or hair straightener, are kept on low to medium heat to ensure less damage on your hair.
Use the right Products:
Look for products that are alcohol and sulphate-free products to reduce frizz and drying your hair out to must. If you don't know what would be the right products for you, ask your stylist for her recommendations.
